Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream

In 1978 the first Ben and Jerry's ice cream parlour opened in a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vermont. A year later, founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield celebrated their first anniversary by holding a free cone day, now a yearly tradition. The high quality product and strong company values led to rapid growth for Ben and Jerry's.

In April 2000, Unilever acquired Ben and Jerry's, with plans to continue the tradition of engaging social values.
